My soul, praise Yahweh! LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with majesty and splendor. 1Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
He wraps Himself in light as if it were a robe, spreading out the sky like a canopy, 2Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
laying the beams of His palace on the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind, 3Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
and making the winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants. 4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be shaken. 5Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
You covered it with the deep as if it were a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. 6Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
At Your rebuke the waters fled; at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away-- 7At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
mountains rose and valleys sank-- to the place You established for them. 8They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
You set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never cover the earth again. 9Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
He causes the springs to gush into the valleys; they flow between the mountains. 10He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
They supply water for every wild beast; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live beside the springs; they sing among the foliage. 12By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from His palace; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of Your labor. 13He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
He causes grass to grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, producing food from the earth, 14He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
wine that makes man's heart glad-- making his face shine with oil-- and bread that sustains man's heart. 15And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.
The trees of the LORD flourish, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted. 16The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
There the birds make their nests; the stork makes its home in the pine trees. 17Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs are a refuge for hyraxes. 18The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
He made the moon to mark the festivals; the sun knows when to set. 19He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
You bring darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals stir. 20Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. 21The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
The sun rises; they go back and lie down in their dens. 22The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening. 23Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
How countless are Your works, LORD! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures. 24O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small. 25So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
There the ships move about, and Leviathan, which You formed to play there. 26There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
All of them wait for You to give them their food at the right time. 27These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
When You give it to them, they gather it; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things. 28That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. 29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
When You send Your breath, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth. 30Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in His works. 31The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they pour out smoke. 32He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live. 33I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
May my meditation be pleasing to Him; I will rejoice in the LORD. 34My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
May sinners vanish from the earth and wicked people be no more. My soul, praise Yahweh! Hallelujah! 35Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
