Holman Christian Standard Bible | New International Version |
A Davidic prayer. Listen, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. | 1A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. |
Protect my life, for I am faithful. You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You. | 2Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; |
Be gracious to me, Lord, for I call to You all day long. | 3have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. |
Bring joy to Your servant's life, because I turn to You, Lord. | 4Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. |
For You, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, rich in faithful love to all who call on You. | 5You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. |
LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy. | 6Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy. |
I call on You in the day of my distress, for You will answer me. | 7When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me. |
Lord, there is no one like You among the gods, and there are no works like Yours. | 8Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. |
All the nations You have made will come and bow down before You, Lord, and will honor Your name. | 9All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. |
For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God. | 10For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. |
Teach me Your way, Yahweh, and I will live by Your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear Your name. | 11Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. |
I will praise You with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor Your name forever. | 12I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. |
For Your faithful love for me is great, and You deliver my life from the depths of Sheol. | 13For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead. |
God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men seeks my life. They have no regard for You. | 14Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me-- they have no regard for you. |
But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth. | 15But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. |
Turn to me and be gracious to me. Give Your strength to Your servant; save the son of Your female servant. | 16Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did. |
Show me a sign of Your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because You, LORD, have helped and comforted me. | 17Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. |
