| 9Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, | 9Likewise, I want the women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty, and with self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, |
| 10but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God. | 10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God. |
| 11Let a woman learn with a quiet spirit, and submissively. | 11A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness. |
| 12Moreover, in the area of teaching, I am not allowing a woman to instigate conflict toward a man. Instead, she is to remain calm. | 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet. |

| 14and it was not Adam who was deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became disobedient, | 14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression. |
