First of all, then, I urge you to offer to God petitions, prayers, intercessions, and expressions of thanks for all people, 1First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,
for kings, and for everyone who has authority, so that we might lead a quiet and peaceful life with all godliness and dignity.2even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 3Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior,
who wants all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully. 4since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and human beings—a human, the Messiah Jesus. 5For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human,
He gave himself as a ransom for everyone, the testimony at the proper time. 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God's purpose at his appointed time.
For this reason I was appointed to be an announcer, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the gentiles. (I am telling you the truth. I am not lying.)7For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle--I am telling the truth; I am not lying--and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without being angry or argumentative. 8So I want the men to pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or dispute.
Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, 9Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,
but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God.10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.
Let a woman learn with a quiet spirit, and submissively. 11A woman must learn quietly with all submissiveness.
Moreover, in the area of teaching, I am not allowing a woman to instigate conflict toward a man. Instead, she is to remain calm. 12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man. She must remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve, 13For Adam was formed first and then Eve.
and it was not Adam who was deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became disobedient, 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression.
even though she will be saved through the birth of the Child, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, along with good judgment. 15But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control.
