Timothy 2
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
First of all, then, I urge you to offer to God petitions, prayers, intercessions, and expressions of thanks for all people, 1I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
for kings, and for everyone who has authority, so that we might lead a quiet and peaceful life with all godliness and dignity.2Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 3This is good and pleases God our Savior,
who wants all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully. 4who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and human beings—a human, the Messiah Jesus. 5For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.
He gave himself as a ransom for everyone, the testimony at the proper time. 6He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.
For this reason I was appointed to be an announcer, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the gentiles. (I am telling you the truth. I am not lying.)7And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.
Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without being angry or argumentative. 8In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.
Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, 9And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.
but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God.10For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.
Let a woman learn with a quiet spirit, and submissively. 11Women should learn quietly and submissively.
Moreover, in the area of teaching, I am not allowing a woman to instigate conflict toward a man. Instead, she is to remain calm. 12I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve, 13For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve.
and it was not Adam who was deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became disobedient, 14And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.
even though she will be saved through the birth of the Child, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, along with good judgment. 15But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.
