Timothy 2
ISV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionNew International Version
First of all, then, I urge you to offer to God petitions, prayers, intercessions, and expressions of thanks for all people, 1I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--
for kings, and for everyone who has authority, so that we might lead a quiet and peaceful life with all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
who wants all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully. 4who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and human beings—a human, the Messiah Jesus. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
He gave himself as a ransom for everyone, the testimony at the proper time. 6who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
For this reason I was appointed to be an announcer, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the gentiles. (I am telling you the truth. I am not lying.)7And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.
Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without being angry or argumentative. 8Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, 9I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God.10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Let a woman learn with a quiet spirit, and submissively. 11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
Moreover, in the area of teaching, I am not allowing a woman to instigate conflict toward a man. Instead, she is to remain calm. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve, 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
and it was not Adam who was deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and became disobedient, 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
even though she will be saved through the birth of the Child, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, along with good judgment. 15But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
