Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to your name be given glory on account of your gracious love and faithfulness. | 1Not to us, O LORD, not to us! But to your name bring honor, for the sake of your loyal love and faithfulness. |
Why should the nations ask "Where now is their God?" | 2Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" |
when our God is in the heavens and he does whatever he desires? | 3Our God is in heaven! He does whatever he pleases! |
Their idols are silver and gold, crafted by human hands. | 4Their idols are made of silver and gold--they are man-made. |
They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see. | 5They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see, |
They have ears, but cannot hear; they have noses, but cannot smell. | 6ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell, |
They have hands, but cannot touch; feet, but cannot walk; they cannot even groan with their throats. | 7hands, but cannot touch, feet, but cannot walk. They cannot even clear their throats. |
Those who craft them will become like them, as will all those who trust in them. | 8Those who make them will end up like them, as will everyone who trusts in them. |
Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their helper and shield. | 9O Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their deliverer and protector. |
House of Aaron, trust in the LORD! He is their helper and shield. | 10O family of Aaron, trust in the LORD! He is their deliverer and protector. |
You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their helper and shield. | 11You loyal followers of the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their deliverer and protector. |
The LORD remembers and blesses us. He will indeed bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. | 12The LORD takes notice of us, he will bless--he will bless the family of Israel, he will bless the family of Aaron. |
He will bless those who fear the LORD, both the important and the insignificant together. | 13He will bless his loyal followers, both young and old. |
May the LORD add to your numbers— to you and to your descendants. | 14May he increase your numbers, yours and your children's! |
May you be blessed by the LORD, who made the heavens and the earth. | 15May you be blessed by the LORD, the creator of heaven and earth! |
The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but he gave the earth to human beings. | 16The heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind. |
Neither can the dead praise the LORD, nor those who go down into the silence of death. | 17The dead do not praise the LORD, nor do any of those who descend into the silence of death. |
But we will bless the LORD from now to eternity. Hallelujah! | 18But we will praise the LORD now and forevermore. Praise the LORD! |
