Psalm 149
ISV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew International Version
1Hallelujah! Sing a new song to the LORD, praising him where the godly gather together.1Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people.
2May Israel rejoice in its Maker, and Zion's descendants in their King!2Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King.
3May they praise his name with dancing, chanting songs to him with tambourines and lyres.3Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.
4For the LORD is pleased with his people; he beautifies the afflicted with salvation.4For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
5May those he loves be exalted, singing for joy on their couches.5Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.
6Let high praises to God be heard in their throats, while they wield two-edged swords in their hands6May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,
7as they bring retribution to nations and punishment to peoples,7to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
8binding their kings with chains, their officials with iron bands,8to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron,
9and executing the judgment written against them. This is honor for all the ones he loves. Hallelujah!9to carry out the sentence written against them-- this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the LORD.
