A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. | 1Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name. |
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: | 2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds— |
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; | 3He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, |
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; | 4who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion, |
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. | 5who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. |
The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. | 6The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. |
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. | 7He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel. |
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. | 8The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion. |
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. | 9He will not always accuse us, nor harbor His anger forever. |
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. | 10He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities. |
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. | 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving devotion for those who fear Him. |
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. | 12As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. |
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. | 13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. |
For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. | 14For He knows our frame; He is mindful that we are dust. |
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. | 15As for man, his days are like grass—he blooms like a flower of the field; |
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. | 16when the wind passes over, it vanishes, and its place remembers it no more. |
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; | 17But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children— |
To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. | 18to those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts. |
The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. | 19The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all. |
Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. | 20Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command. |
Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. | 21Bless the LORD, all His hosts, you servants who do His will. |
Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul. | 22Bless the LORD, all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul! |
