King James Bible | New Living Translation |
A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. | 1Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. |
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: | 2Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. |
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; | 3He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. |
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; | 4He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. |
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. | 5He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! |
The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. | 6The LORD gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. |
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. | 7He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. |
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. | 8The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. |
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. | 9He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. |
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. | 10He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. |
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. | 11For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. |
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. | 12He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. |
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. | 13The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. |
For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. | 14For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. |
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. | 15Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. |
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. | 16The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here. |
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; | 17But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children |
To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. | 18of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments! |
The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. | 19The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. |
Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. | 20Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. |
Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. | 21Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! |
Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul. | 22Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD. |
