King James Bible | English Standard Version |
A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. | 1The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” |
The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. | 2The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! |
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. | 3Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. |
The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. | 4The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” |
The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. | 5The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. |
He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. | 6He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. |
He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. | 7He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head. |
