To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. | 1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. |
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. | 2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted. |
I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. | 3When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah. |
Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. | 4You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. |
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. | 5I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago. |
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. | 6I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders: |
Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? | 7Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? |
Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? | 8Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? |
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah. | 9Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah. |
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High. | 10Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed." |
I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. | 11I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. |
I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. | 12I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds. |
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? | 13Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? |
Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. | 14You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. |
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. | 15You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. |
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. | 16The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled. |
The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad. | 17The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there. |
The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. | 18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. |
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. | 19Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known. |
Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. | 20You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron. |
