To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.3When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah.
Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.5I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago.
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.6I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders:
Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?7Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again?
Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?8Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.9Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah.
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.10Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed."
I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.11I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.12I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?13Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God?
Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.14You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.15You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.16The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled.
The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.17The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there.
The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.19Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known.
Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
