 | 1A Song or Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. | 1A song, a psalm of David. I am determined, O God! I will sing and praise you with my whole heart. |
| 2Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. | 2Awake, O stringed instrument and harp! I will wake up at dawn! |
| 3I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. | 3I will give you thanks before the nations, O LORD! I will sing praises to you before foreigners! |
| 4For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. | 4For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds. |
| 5Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; | 5Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! |
| 6That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me. | 6Deliver by your power and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe. |
| 7God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. | 7God has spoken in his sanctuary: "I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem, the valley of Succoth I will measure off. |
| 8Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; | 8Gilead belongs to me, as does Manasseh! Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my royal scepter. |
| 9Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph. | 9Moab is my wash basin. I will make Edom serve me. I will shout in triumph over Philistia." |
| 10Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? | 10Who will lead me into the fortified city? Who will bring me to Edom? |
| 11Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? | 11Have you not rejected us, O God? O God, you do not go into battle with our armies. |
| 12Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. | 12Give us help against the enemy, for any help men might offer is futile. |
| 13Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. | 13By God's power we will conquer; he will trample down our enemies. |
