King James Bible | New Living Translation |
A Song or Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. | 1My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! |
Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. | 2Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. |
I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. | 3I will thank you, LORD, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. |
For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. | 4For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. |
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; | 5Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. |
That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me. | 6Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power. |
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. | 7God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth. |
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; | 8Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings. |
Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph. | 9But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.” |
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? | 10Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? |
Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? | 11Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? |
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. | 12Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. |
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. | 13With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. |
