 | 1A Song or Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. | 1My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! |
| 2Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. | 2Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! |
| 3I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. | 3I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. |
| 4For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. | 4For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. |
| 5Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; | 5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! |
| 6That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me. | 6That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me! |
| 7God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. | 7God has promised in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Valley of Succoth. |
| 8Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; | 8Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. |
| 9Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph. | 9Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” |
| 10Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? | 10Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? |
| 11Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? | 11Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies. |
| 12Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. | 12Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! |
| 13Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. | 13With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. |
