Corinthians 6
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints?1If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord's people?
Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?2Or do you not know that the Lord's people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church?4Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church?
I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren,5I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?
but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?6But instead, one brother takes another to court--and this in front of unbelievers!
Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,9Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.12"I have the right to do anything," you say--but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"--but I will not be mastered by anything.
Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.13You say, "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both." The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH."16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh."
But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.17But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?19Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
