Psalm 60
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
For the choir director; according to Shushan Eduth. A Mikhtam of David, to teach; when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have rejected us. You have broken us; You have been angry; O, restore us.1For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant." A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry--now restore us!
You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters.2You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking.
You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.3You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger.
You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.4But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow.
That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and answer us!5Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.
God has spoken in His holiness: "I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.6God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
"Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter.7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah is my scepter.
"Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe; Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!"8Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph."
Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom?9Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?10Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
O give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain.11Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.
Through God we shall do valiantly, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.12With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
