New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; | 1It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. |
To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night, | 2It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, |
With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp, With resounding music upon the lyre. | 3accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. |
For You, O LORD, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands. | 4You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. |
How great are Your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep. | 5O LORD, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. |
A senseless man has no knowledge, Nor does a stupid man understand this: | 6Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: |
That when the wicked sprouted up like grass And all who did iniquity flourished, It was only that they might be destroyed forevermore. | 7Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. |
But You, O LORD, are on high forever. | 8But you, O LORD, will be exalted forever. |
For, behold, Your enemies, O LORD, For, behold, Your enemies will perish; All who do iniquity will be scattered. | 9Your enemies, LORD, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
But You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. | 10But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. |
And my eye has looked exultantly upon my foes, My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me. | 11My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. |
The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | 12But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. |
Planted in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in the courts of our God. | 13For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. |
They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green, | 14Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. |
To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. | 15They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” |
