1Praise the LORD, for it is good to sing praises to our God! Yes, praise is pleasant and appropriate! | 1Hallelujah! It is good to sing praise to our God, and it is fitting to sing glorious praise. |
2The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem, and gathers the exiles of Israel. | 2The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers together the outcasts of Israel. |
3He heals the brokenhearted, and bandages their wounds. | 3He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their injuries. |
4He counts the number of the stars; he names all of them. | 4He keeps track of the number of stars, assigning names to all of them. |
5Our Lord is great and has awesome power; there is no limit to his wisdom. | 5Our Lord is great, and rich in power; his understanding has no limitation. |
6The LORD lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the ground. | 6The LORD supports the afflicted while he casts the wicked to the ground. |
7Offer to the LORD a song of thanks! Sing praises to our God to the accompaniment of a harp! | 7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving, and compose music to our God with the lyre. |
8He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides. | 8He shields the heavens with clouds, preparing rain for the earth and making grass grow on the hills. |

13For he makes the bars of your gates strong. He blesses your children within you. | 13For he has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessing your children within you. |
14He brings peace to your territory. He abundantly provides for you the best grain. | 14He grants peace within your borders, satisfying you with the finest of wheat. |
15He sends his command through the earth; swiftly his order reaches its destination. | 15He sends out his command to the earth, making his word go forth quickly. |
16He sends the snow that is white like wool; he spreads the frost that is white like ashes. | 16He supplies snow like wool, scattering frost like ashes. |
17He throws his hailstones like crumbs. Who can withstand the cold wind he sends? | 17He casts down his ice crystals like bread fragments. Who can endure his freezing cold? |
18He then orders it all to melt; he breathes on it, and the water flows. | 18He sends out his word and melts them. He makes his wind blow and the water flows. |
19He proclaims his word to Jacob, his statutes and regulations to Israel. | 19He declares his words to Jacob, his statutes and decrees to Israel. |
20He has not done so with any other nation; they are not aware of his regulations. Praise the LORD! | 20He has not dealt with any other nation like this; they never knew his decrees. Hallelujah! |
