1Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.1He said to His disciples, "It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come!
2It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.2"It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.
3So watch yourselves. "If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.3"Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
4Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying 'I repent,' you must forgive them."4"And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him."
5The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"5The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"
6He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.6And the Lord said, "If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted in the sea'; and it would obey you.
7"Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'?7"Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come immediately and sit down to eat'?
8Won't he rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'?8"But will he not say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat, and properly clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink '?
9Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?9"He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?
10So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.'"10"So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.'"
11Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.11While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance12As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;
13and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"13and they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
14When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.14When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed.
15One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.15Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
16He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan.16and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
17Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?17Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine-- where are they?
18Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?"18"Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?"
19Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."19And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."
20Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed,20Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;
21nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is in your midst."21nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or, 'There it is!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."
22Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.22And He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
23People will tell you, 'There he is!' or 'Here he is!' Do not go running off after them.23"They will say to you, 'Look there! Look here!' Do not go away, and do not run after them.
24For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.24"For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.25"But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.26"And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.27they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.28"It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.29but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
30"It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.30"It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
31On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything.31"On that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back.
32Remember Lot's wife!32"Remember Lot's wife.
33Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.33"Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
34I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.34"I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.
35Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."35"There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left.
3636"Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left."
37"Where, Lord?" they asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."37And answering they said to Him, "Where, Lord?" And He said to them, "Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered."
