Psalm 41
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.1Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the LORD delivers him;
The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.2the LORD protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies.
The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.3The LORD sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.
I said, “LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”4As for me, I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against you!”
My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?”5My enemies say of me in malice, “When will he die, and his name perish?”
And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it.6And when one comes to see me, he utters empty words, while his heart gathers iniquity; when he goes out, he tells it abroad.
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt.7All who hate me whisper together about me; they imagine the worst for me.
“An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.”8They say, “A deadly thing is poured out on him; he will not rise again from where he lies.”
Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.9Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.
But You, O LORD, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them.10But you, O LORD, be gracious to me, and raise me up, that I may repay them!
By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me.11By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever.12But you have upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in your presence forever.
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.13Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.
