| 1To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. | 1For the choir director. A Psalm of David. How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble. |
| 2The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. | 2The LORD will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies. |
| 3The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. | 3The LORD will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness, You restore him to health. |
| 4I said, “LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.” | 4As for me, I said, "O LORD, be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You." |
