| 2to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us! | 2before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us. |
| 3Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. | 3Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. |
| 4O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers? | 4How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? |
| 5You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful. | 5You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful. |
| 6You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke. | 6You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us. |

| 8You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land. | 8You transplanted a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. |
| 9You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land. | 9You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land. |
| 10Our shade covered the mountains; our branches covered the mighty cedars. | 10The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. |
| 11We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea; our shoots spread east to the Euphrates River. | 11Its branches reached as far as the Sea, its shoots as far as the River. |
| 12But now, why have you broken down our walls so that all who pass by may steal our fruit? | 12Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes? |
| 13The wild boar from the forest devours it, and the wild animals feed on it. | 13Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it. |
| 14Come back, we beg you, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Look down from heaven and see our plight. Take care of this grapevine | 14Return to us, God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine, |
| 15that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself. | 15the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself. |
| 16For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown. | 16Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish. |
| 17Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice. | 17Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself. |
| 18Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. | 18Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. |
