Parallel Chapters Hosea Announces Israel's Punishment | 1Do not rejoice, Israel; do not be jubilant like the other nations. For you have been unfaithful to your God; you love the wages of a prostitute at every threshing floor. | 1Rejoice not, O Israel! Exult not like the peoples; for you have played the whore, forsaking your God. | 6Even if they escape from destruction, Egypt will gather them, and Memphis will bury them. | 7The days of punishment are coming, the days of reckoning are at hand. Let Israel know this. The prophet is a fool; the man of the spirit is mad, because of your great iniquity and great hatred. | 7The days of punishment have come, The days of retribution have come; Let Israel know this! | 9They have sunk deep into corruption, as in the days of Gibeah. Like the first fruit on the fig tree in its first season, I saw your fathers. But they came to Baal-peor and consecrated themselves to the thing of shame, and became detestable like the thing they loved. | 10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your forefathers as the earliest fruit on the fig tree in its first season.
