Honor God daily as the sole deity?
How can we honor God as "the only God" in our daily lives?

The Majesty of the Only God

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, and invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17)

Why His Uniqueness Demands Honor

• He is eternal—outside time, unchanging (Hebrews 13:8).

• He is immortal—life in Himself, the source of ours (John 5:26).

• He is invisible—beyond created limits, yet reveals Himself (Colossians 1:15).

• He is the only God—no rivals, no equals (Isaiah 45:5).

Because these truths are literal and trustworthy, honoring Him is not optional—it is reality-based obedience.

Everyday Practices That Give Him Honor

• Center your worship exclusively on Him

– Begin and end the day acknowledging His kingship (Psalm 5:3).

– Gather with believers weekly, refusing substitutes (Hebrews 10:25).

• Guard the mind from competing “gods”

– Evaluate entertainment, ambitions, and relationships through Exodus 20:3.

– Delete, decline, or distance from whatever dulls affection for Christ (Matthew 6:24).

• Speak of Him accurately and often

– Use His revealed names with reverence, never flippantly (Exodus 20:7).

– Testify to answered prayer and daily mercies (Psalm 107:2).

• Obey His Word promptly

– Immediate obedience shows He alone commands the conscience (John 14:15).

– Small acts—returning a tithe, forgiving an enemy—declare His Lordship (Luke 6:27-36).

• Steward time, talent, and treasure for His glory

– Budget around 1 Corinthians 10:31: “whether you eat or drink…do all to the glory of God.”

– Serve the body of Christ with giftedness He supplied (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Guarding Against Subtle Idolatry

• Comfort-as-god: when convenience overrules conviction (Philippians 3:19).

• Self-image-as-god: when social media “likes” drive choices (Galatians 1:10).

• Achievement-as-god: when success eclipses surrender (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

Ask the Spirit (Psalm 139:23-24) to expose any rival altars and tear them down swiftly.

Living Moment-by-Moment in His Presence

• Practice continual gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

• Meditate on Scripture through the day (Psalm 1:2).

• Whisper prayers before tasks, meetings, or decisions (Proverbs 3:5-6).

• View interruptions as providential appointments from the King (Romans 8:28).
