How can we always dwell before God?
In what ways can we "dwell before God forever" in our spiritual walk?

Scripture Focus

“May he sit enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint Your loving devotion and faithfulness to guard him.” Psalm 61:7

The Heart of the Verse

• “Sit enthroned” pictures settled, secure fellowship—not a fleeting visit.

• “God’s presence forever” unites present experience (Psalm 16:11) with eternal hope (Revelation 21:3).

• “Loving devotion and faithfulness” remind us that His covenant love makes our abiding possible (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Our Permanent Position in Christ

• Through the cross we are “brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13).

• We are already “seated … in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6).

• Nothing can sever this union (Romans 8:38-39).

Practical Ways to Dwell Before Him Daily

• Draw near confidently—Jesus opened “a new and living way” (Hebrews 10:19-22).

• Stay in conversation: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

• Feed on Scripture: delight in His law “day and night” (Psalm 1:2; Colossians 3:16).

• Worship often—both privately and with the church (Psalm 84:4; Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Walk in obedience; those who keep His word have Father and Son “make Our home with him” (John 14:23; 1 John 3:24).

• Depend on the Spirit, who “abides with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17; Romans 8:11).

• Practice continual gratitude (Psalm 100:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Guarded by Loving Devotion and Faithfulness

• God Himself keeps us (Jude 24).

• His “loving devotion” (ḥesed) secures mercy; His “faithfulness” secures stability (Psalm 89:33-34).

• Our responsibility is to rest in what He provides, not manufacture our own security.

Looking Ahead to Forever

• Present abiding is a foretaste of unbroken fellowship in the New Jerusalem where “the dwelling place of God is with man” (Revelation 21:3-4).

• Until that day, we echo David’s confidence: “I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:6).
