How can we avoid being shamed?
In what ways can we ensure we "will not be put to shame"?

Our Foundational Promise (Romans 10:11)

“It is just as the Scripture says: ‘Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.’”

Believing in Christ Alone

• Place full confidence in Jesus’ finished work, not in personal merit (Romans 3:22; 1 Peter 2:6).

• Keep the focus on who He is—Cornerstone, Savior, Lord—so that faith rests on an unshakable Person, not changing circumstances (Hebrews 13:8).

Waiting Patiently on the Lord

• “Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame” (Psalm 25:3).

• Waiting means refusing shortcuts and trusting God’s timing.

• Practical ways to wait: regular prayer, thanksgiving, worship, and refusing anxious self-help schemes (Philippians 4:6-7).

Obeying the Word Wholeheartedly

• “Then I would not be ashamed when I consider all Your commandments” (Psalm 119:6).

• Daily intake—reading, memorizing, meditating—guards the heart (Psalm 119:11).

• Immediate obedience, even when inconvenient, keeps conscience clear (James 1:22-25).

Living with Integrity and a Good Conscience

• “So that in the thing in which they slander you…they may be put to shame” (1 Peter 3:16).

• Integrity expresses itself in truth-telling, financial honesty, sexual purity, and fair dealings (Proverbs 11:3).

• Confess sin quickly (1 John 1:9); unresolved guilt breeds shame.

Boldly Confessing the Gospel

• “I am not ashamed of the gospel” (Romans 1:16).

• Speak of Christ openly; silence out of fear breeds inward shame.

• The Spirit empowers witness (Acts 1:8); rely on Him rather than self-confidence.

Anchoring Hope in God’s Promises

• “Hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured out” (Romans 5:5).

• Regularly rehearse promises about future glory (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

• Hope transforms present trials into opportunities for growth, not disgrace (Romans 8:18).

Remaining in Christ Until He Comes

• “Remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him” (1 John 2:28).

• Abiding involves ongoing fellowship: worship, Scripture, obedience, and dependence on the Spirit (John 15:4-5).

• Perseverance is evidence of genuine faith (Hebrews 3:14).

Putting It All Together

• Believe in Christ.

• Wait on Him.

• Obey His Word.

• Walk in integrity.

• Proclaim the gospel.

• Hope in His promises.

• Abide until He returns.

Follow this path and, according to God’s unbreakable Word, you “will never be put to shame.”
