Revelation 22:17: Our response today?
How does Revelation 22:17 invite us to respond to God's call today?

The Verse in Focus

“ ‘And the Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come; and the one who desires, let him freely take the water of life.’ ” (Revelation 22:17)

An Open Invitation

• The Holy Spirit and the collective Bride (all redeemed believers) jointly issue the word “Come!”—a divine, universal summons.

• This closing call in Scripture echoes God’s heart from Genesis to Revelation: He seeks people to know Him, love Him, and dwell with Him.

Responding Personally: “Let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ ”

• Hearing brings responsibility. Those who have received the gospel are commissioned to repeat the invitation.

• Our response is not silent assent but active participation—joining the Spirit in inviting others. (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:20)

Thirst and Need: Recognizing Our Spiritual Condition

• “Thirst” pictures deep spiritual need (Isaiah 55:1).

• Christ alone satisfies that longing (John 4:14; John 7:37-38).

• Acknowledging our need is the first step toward receiving grace.

A Gift Freely Offered

• “Freely take the water of life.” Salvation is by grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).

• No merit, no cost, no prerequisite—only a willing heart (Romans 10:13).

• The imagery promises everlasting satisfaction and eternal life (Revelation 21:6).

Ways to Respond Today

• Repent—turn from sin to the Savior (Acts 3:19).

• Believe—trust Christ’s finished work (John 3:16).

• Drink—daily draw life and refreshment from His Word (Psalm 1:2-3).

• Invite—share the gospel in word and action (Matthew 28:19-20).

• Worship—honor the One who gives living water (Hebrews 13:15).

• Watch—live expectantly for Christ’s return (Titus 2:13).

Echoes Throughout Scripture

Isaiah 55:1 – “Come, all who are thirsty…”

Matthew 11:28 – “Come to Me, all you who are weary…”

John 6:35 – “Whoever believes in Me will never thirst.”

Revelation 21:6 – “To the thirsty I will give freely…”

Living in Expectation

This final “Come!” is two-fold: we invite Christ into our lives now, and we long for His imminent return. Each moment becomes an opportunity to align our hearts with His promise, “Yes, I am coming soon” (Revelation 22:20).
