The Father entrusted this revelation to the Son in harmony with the Son’s mediatorial role. Though equal with the Father in divine nature, the incarnate Son carries out the Father’s saving will and makes it known to His people. The revelation therefore bears the full authority of God.

Christ gives this message to all who belong to Him. His servants are called to faithful obedience amid spiritual conflict, deception, suffering, and persecution. Revelation was given not to satisfy curiosity but to strengthen the church to worship God, reject compromise, and endure until Christ’s victory is openly revealed.

The events foretold are certain because they stand within God’s sovereign plan. “Soon” communicates that the fulfillment had drawn near and that the church must live in readiness. Some judgments began to unfold in the apostolic age, while the climactic events await their literal fulfillment at Christ’s return.

He made it known by sending His angel

God often employs angels as His servants and messengers in the outworking of His purposes. The angelic mediation of the revelation emphasizes its heavenly origin and the seriousness of its message. to His servant John,

John, the apostle and eyewitness of Jesus’ earthly ministry, received this revelation while exiled on Patmos because of his faithful testimony. The same disciple who wrote of Christ’s first coming now records the certainty of His return. John receives the vision as a servant, modeling the humility and obedience required of every believer who hears God’s Word.
