Moses, a central figure in the Old Testament, is renowned as the great prophet and leader who delivered the Israelites from Egyptian bondage and guided them through the wilderness. Intercession for Israel

Moses' role as an intercessor is another vital aspect of his communion with God. When the Israelites sin by worshiping the golden calf, Moses pleads with God to spare them. In Exodus 32:11-14 , Moses implores the LORD, reminding Him of His promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The LORD relents from the disaster He had threatened, demonstrating the power of Moses' intercessory prayer and his deep communion with God.

The Tent of Meeting

Moses' communion with God is further illustrated in the Tent of Meeting, where he regularly meets with the LORD. Exodus 33:7-9 describes how Moses would pitch the tent outside the camp, and "everyone who sought the LORD would go out to the Tent of Meeting." The pillar of cloud would descend, and the LORD would speak with Moses, signifying the ongoing, personal relationship between Moses and God.

The Glory of God

In Exodus 34:29-35 , Moses' face shines with the glory of God after speaking with Him on Mount Sinai. This physical manifestation of God's glory reflects the depth of Moses' communion with the Divine. The Israelites are afraid to approach him, so Moses wears a veil over his face, removing it only when he enters the LORD's presence.

Legacy of Communion

Moses' communion with God sets a precedent for prophetic leadership and intimacy with the Divine. Deuteronomy 34:10-12 attests to Moses' unique relationship with God: "Since that time, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face." His life exemplifies the profound impact of divine communion on leadership, intercession, and the transmission of God's law to His people.
