The passage describes how Lucifer, in his heart, declared, "I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit on the mount of assembly, in the far reaches of the north" (Isaiah 14:13). As a result of his rebellion, Lucifer was cast out of heaven. Isaiah 14:15 declares, "But you will be brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the Pit" . This expulsion signifies his transition from a being of light to one of darkness, now known as Satan, meaning "adversary" or "accuser."

Revelation 12:7-9 provides a New Testament perspective on this event, describing a war in heaven where Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, identified as "the ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, who leads the whole world astray" (Revelation 12:9).
