Divine Titles and Attributes

Equality with the Father

In John 10:30, Jesus declares, "I and the Father are one," indicating a unity of essence and purpose with the Father. This claim of equality with God incited the Jewish leaders to accuse Him of blasphemy, as recorded in John 10:33, where they state, "You, a mere man, claim to be God."

Philippians 2:6-7 speaks of Christ, "Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant." This passage reveals that Christ, though equal with God, willingly humbled Himself in the incarnation, underscoring both His divine nature and His redemptive mission.

The True God and Eternal Life

The Apostle John explicitly identifies Jesus as the true God in 1 John 5:20: "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life." This verse affirms that Jesus is not only the true God but also the source of eternal life for believers.
