The Vision of the Lampstand and Olive Trees

1  וַיָּ֕שָׁב (And returned), הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ (the angel) הַדֹּבֵ֣ר (speaking) בִּ֑י (with me) וַיְעִירֵ֕נִי (and he woke me) כְּאִ֖ישׁ (as a man) אֲשֶׁר־ (who) יֵע֥וֹר (is wakened) מִשְּׁנָתֽוֹ׃ (from his sleep).

2  וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And he said) אֵלַ֔י (to me) מָ֥ה (What) אַתָּ֖ה (are you)? רֹאֶ֑ה (Seeing)

וַיֹּאמֶר (and I said), רָאִ֣יתִי׀ (I am looking), וְהִנֵּ֣ה (and behold) מְנוֹרַת֩ (a lampstand) זָהָ֨ב (of gold), כֻּלָּ֜הּ (all of it) וְגֻלָּ֣הּ (and a bowl) עַל־ (on) רֹאשָׁ֗הּ (its head) וְשִׁבְעָ֤ה (and seven) נֵרֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ (lamps) עָלֶ֔יהָ (on it), שִׁבְעָ֤ה (seven) וְשִׁבְעָה֙ (and seven) מֽוּצָק֔וֹת (pipes) לַנֵּר֖וֹת (for the lamps), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) עַל־ (are on) רֹאשָֽׁהּ׃ (its head). 3  וּשְׁנַ֥יִם (And two) זֵיתִ֖ים (olive trees) עָלֶ֑יהָ (are by it) אֶחָד֙ (one) מִימִ֣ין (on the right) הַגֻּלָּ֔ה (of the bowl), וְאֶחָ֖ד (and one) עַל־ (on) שְׂמֹאלָֽהּ׃ (its left).

4  וָאַ֙עַן֙ (And I answered) וָֽאֹמַ֔ר (and spoke) אֶל־ (to) הַמַּלְאָ֛ךְ (the angel) הַדֹּבֵ֥ר (who was speaking) בִּ֖י (with me) לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), מָה־ (What are) אֵ֖לֶּה (these), אֲדֹנִֽי׃ (my lord)?

5  וַ֠יַּעַן (And answered) הַמַּלְאָ֞ךְ (the angel) הַדֹּבֵ֥ר (who was speaking) בִּי֙ (with me) וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and he said) אֵלַ֔י (to me) הֲל֥וֹא (Do not) יָדַ֖עְתָּ (you know) מָה־ (what) הֵ֣מָּה (are) אֵ֑לֶּה (these)

וָאֹמַ֖ר (and I said), לֹ֥א (No), אֲדֹנִֽי׃ (my lord).

6  וַיַּ֜עַן (And he answered) וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (and spoke) אֵלַי֙ (to me) לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), זֶ֚ה (This is) דְּבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) אֶל־ (to) זְרֻבָּבֶ֖ל (Zerubbabel), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), לֹ֤א (Not) בְחַ֙יִל֙ (by might), וְלֹ֣א (and not) בְכֹ֔חַ (by power), כִּ֣י (but) אִם־ (only) בְּרוּחִ֔י (by My Spirit), אָמַ֖ר (says) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH of) צְבָאֽוֹת׃ (Hosts). 7  מִֽי־ (Who are) אַתָּ֧ה (you), הַֽר־ (mountain)? הַגָּד֛וֹל (Great) לִפְנֵ֥י (Before the face) זְרֻבָּבֶ֖ל (of Zerubbabel) לְמִישֹׁ֑ר (as a plain); וְהוֹצִיא֙ (and he will bring forth) אֶת־ (-) הָאֶ֣בֶן (the stone) הָרֹאשָׁ֔ה (at the head) תְּשֻׁא֕וֹת (with shouts), חֵ֥ן (Grace), חֵ֖ן (grace) לָֽהּ׃פ (to it).

8  וַיְהִ֥י (And came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֵלַ֥י (to me) לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 9  יְדֵ֣י (The hands) זְרֻבָּבֶ֗ל (of Zerubbabel) יִסְּד֛וּ (have laid the foundation) הַבַּ֥יִת (of the house); הַזֶּ֖ה (this) וְיָדָ֣יו (and His hands) תְּבַצַּ֑עְנָה (will complete it) וְיָ֣דַעְתָּ֔ (and you will know) כִּֽי־ (that) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH of) צְבָא֖וֹת (Hosts) שְׁלָחַ֥נִי (has sent Me) אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ (to you⁺). 10  כִּ֣י (For) מִ֣י (who) בַז֮ (has despised) לְי֣וֹם (the day of) קְטַנּוֹת֒ (small things)? וְשָׂמְח֗וּ (And they will rejoice), וְרָא֞וּ (when they see) אֶת־ (-) הָאֶ֧בֶן (the plummet) הַבְּדִ֛יל (tin) בְּיַ֥ד (in the hand) זְרֻבָּבֶ֖ל (of Zerubbabel) שִׁבְעָה־ (The seven); אֵ֑לֶּה (these) עֵינֵ֣י (the eyes) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), הֵ֥מָּה (they are) מְשׁוֹטְטִ֖ים (roving about) בְּכָל־ (through all) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth).

11  וָאַ֖עַן (And I answered) וָאֹמַ֣ר (and said) אֵלָ֑יו (to him) מַה־ (What are) שְּׁנֵ֤י (the two) הַזֵּיתִים֙ (olive trees) הָאֵ֔לֶה (these) עַל־ (at) יְמִ֥ין (the right) הַמְּנוֹרָ֖ה (of the lampstand) וְעַל־ (and at) שְׂמֹאולָֽהּ׃ (its left). 12  וָאַ֣עַן (And I answered) שֵׁנִ֔ית (a second time), וָאֹמַ֖ר (and said) אֵלָ֑יו (to him) מַה־ (What) שְׁתֵּ֞י (are the two) שִׁבֲּלֵ֣י (branches) הַזֵּיתִ֗ים (of the olive trees) אֲשֶׁר֙ (that) בְּיַ֗ד (into the hands) שְׁנֵי֙ (of the two) צַנְתְּר֣וֹת (pipes) הַזָּהָ֔ב (of gold) הַֽמְרִיקִ֥ים (are emptying out) מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם (from them) הַזָּהָֽב׃ (the gold).

13  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And he answered), אֵלַי֙ (to me) לֵאמֹ֔ר (and said), הֲל֥וֹא (Do not) יָדַ֖עְתָּ (you know) מָה־ (what are) אֵ֑לֶּה (these)

וָאֹמַ֖ר (and I said) לֹ֥א (No), אֲדֹנִֽי׃ (my lord).

14  וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (And he said) אֵ֖לֶּה (These are) שְׁנֵ֣י (the two) בְנֵֽי־ (sons) הַיִּצְהָ֑ר (of new oil), הָעֹמְדִ֖ים (who are standing) עַל־ (beside) אֲד֥וֹן (the Lord) כָּל־ (of all) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth).
