The Vision of Joshua the High Priest

1  וַיַּרְאֵ֗נִי (And he showed me) אֶת־ (-) יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ (Joshua) הַכֹּהֵ֣ן (the priest) הַגָּד֔וֹל (high) עֹמֵ֕ד (standing) לִפְנֵ֖י (before) מַלְאַ֣ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), וְהַשָּׂטָ֛ן (and Satan) עֹמֵ֥ד (was standing) עַל־ (at) יְמִינ֖וֹ (his right hand) לְשִׂטְנֽוֹ׃ (to oppose him).

2  וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) יְהוָ֜ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) הַשָּׂטָ֗ן (Satan), יִגְעַ֨ר (Rebukes) יְהוָ֤ה (YHWH) בְּךָ֙ (you) הַשָּׂטָ֔ן (Satan); וְיִגְעַ֤ר (and may rebuke) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) בְּךָ֔ (you) הַבֹּחֵ֖ר (who has chosen) בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (Jerusalem) הֲל֧וֹא (Is not) זֶ֦ה (this) א֖וּד (a firebrand) מֻצָּ֥ל (snatched) מֵאֵֽשׁ׃ (from the fire)?

3  וִיהוֹשֻׁ֕עַ (And Joshua) הָיָ֥ה (was there) לָבֻ֖שׁ (dressed) בְּגָדִ֣ים (in garments), צוֹאִ֑ים (filthy) וְעֹמֵ֖ד (and he was standing) לִפְנֵ֥י (before) הַמַּלְאָֽךְ׃ (the angel). 4  וַיַּ֣עַן (And he answered) וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (and spoke) אֶל־ (to) הָעֹמְדִ֤ים (those standing) לְפָנָיו֙ (before Him) לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), הָסִ֛ירוּ (Take away) הַבְּגָדִ֥ים (the garments) הַצֹּאִ֖ים (filthy) מֵעָלָ֑יו (from him)

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and he said), אֵלָ֗יו (to him) רְאֵ֨ה (See), הֶעֱבַ֤רְתִּי (I have made pass) מֵעָלֶ֙יךָ֙ (from you) עֲוֺנֶ֔ךָ (your iniquity) וְהַלְבֵּ֥שׁ (and I will clothe) אֹתְךָ֖ (you) מַחֲלָצֽוֹת׃ (with splendid robes).

5  וָאֹמַ֕ר (And I said), יָשִׂ֛ימוּ (Let them put) צָנִ֥יף (a turban) טָה֖וֹר (clean) עַל־ (on) רֹאשׁ֑וֹ (his head). וַיָּשִׂימוּ֩ (And they put) הַצָּנִ֨יף (a turban) הַטָּה֜וֹר (clean) עַל־ (on) רֹאשׁ֗וֹ (his head), וַיַּלְבִּשֻׁ֙הוּ֙ (and they clothed him) בְּגָדִ֔ים (with garments). וּמַלְאַ֥ךְ (And the angel) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) עֹמֵֽד׃ (was standing by).

6  וַיָּ֙עַד֙ (And testified) מַלְאַ֣ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) בִּיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ (to Joshua), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 7  כֹּה־ (Thus) אָמַ֞ר (says) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH of) צְבָא֗וֹת (Hosts); אִם־ (If) בִּדְרָכַ֤י (in My ways), תֵּלֵךְ֙ (you will walk) וְאִ֣ם (and if) אֶת־ (-) מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֣י (My command), תִשְׁמֹ֔ר (you will keep) וְגַם־ (then) אַתָּה֙ (you) תָּדִ֣ין (will judge) אֶת־ (-) בֵּיתִ֔י (My house), וְגַ֖ם (and also) תִּשְׁמֹ֣ר (guard) אֶת־ (-) חֲצֵרָ֑י (My courts), וְנָתַתִּ֤י (and I will give) לְךָ֙ (to you) מַהְלְכִ֔ים (goings) בֵּ֥ין (among) הָעֹמְדִ֖ים (ones standing by) הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ (these).

8  שְֽׁמַֽע־ (Hear) נָ֞א (now), יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ׀ (O Joshua) הַכֹּהֵ֣ן (the priest), הַגָּד֗וֹל (high) אַתָּה֙ (you), וְרֵעֶ֙יךָ֙ (and your companions) הַיֹּשְׁבִ֣ים (sitting) לְפָנֶ֔יךָ (before you) כִּֽי־ (for) אַנְשֵׁ֥י (men) מוֹפֵ֖ת (of a sign) הֵ֑מָּה (they are) כִּֽי־ (now), הִנְנִ֥י (behold) מֵבִ֛יא (I am bringing forth) אֶת־ (-) עַבְדִּ֖י (My Servant) צֶֽמַח׃ (the Branch). 9  כִּ֣י׀ (For) הִנֵּ֣ה (behold) הָאֶ֗בֶן (the stone) אֲשֶׁ֤ר (that) נָתַ֙תִּי֙ (I have given) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face) יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ (of Joshua); עַל־ (upon) אֶ֥בֶן (a stone) אַחַ֖ת (single) שִׁבְעָ֣ה (with seven) עֵינָ֑יִם (eyes). הִנְנִ֧י (Behold) מְפַתֵּ֣חַ (I am engraving) פִּתֻּחָ֗הּ (its inscription) נְאֻם֙ (a declaration) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH of) צְבָא֔וֹת (Hosts), וּמַשְׁתִּ֛י (and I will remove) אֶת־ (-) עֲוֺ֥ן (the iniquity) הָאָֽרֶץ־ (of the land) הַהִ֖יא (that) בְּי֥וֹם (in a day) אֶחָֽד׃ (one). 10  בַּיּ֣וֹם (On the day), הַה֗וּא (that) נְאֻם֙ (a declaration) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH of) צְבָא֔וֹת (Hosts), תִּקְרְא֖וּ (will call) אִ֣ישׁ (each man) לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ (his neighbor) אֶל־ (to be) תַּ֥חַת (under) גֶּ֖פֶן (his vine) וְאֶל־ (and) תַּ֥חַת (under) תְּאֵנָֽה׃ (his fig tree).
