The twelve stones are pitched in Gilgal The Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh These tribes were part of the Transjordan tribes, who had settled on the east side of the Jordan River. Their decision to settle there is recorded in Numbers 32, where they requested this land due to its suitability for their livestock.
