| 1A Maskil of Asaph. Why have You rejected us forever, O God? Why does Your anger smolder against the sheep of Your pasture? | 1A Maskil of Asaph. O God, why have You rejected us forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture? |
| 2Remember Your congregation, which You purchased long ago and redeemed as the tribe of Your inheritance—Mount Zion, where You dwell. | 2Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, Which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance; And this Mount Zion, where You have dwelt. |
| 3Turn Your steps to the everlasting ruins, to everything in the sanctuary the enemy has destroyed. | 3Turn Your footsteps toward the perpetual ruins; The enemy has damaged everything within the sanctuary. |
| 4Your foes have roared within Your meeting place; they have unfurled their banners as signs, | 4Your adversaries have roared in the midst of Your meeting place; They have set up their own standards for signs. |

| 8They said in their hearts, “We will crush them completely.” They burned down every place where God met us in the land. | 8They said in their heart, "Let us completely subdue them." They have burned all the meeting places of God in the land. |
| 9There are no signs for us to see. There is no longer any prophet. And none of us knows how long this will last. | 9We do not see our signs; There is no longer any prophet, Nor is there any among us who knows how long. |
| 10How long, O God, will the enemy taunt You? Will the foe revile Your name forever? | 10How long, O God, will the adversary revile, And the enemy spurn Your name forever? |
| 11Why do You withdraw Your strong right hand? Stretch it out to destroy them! | 11Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? From within Your bosom, destroy them! |

| 15You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up the ever-flowing rivers. | 15You broke open springs and torrents; You dried up ever-flowing streams. |
| 16The day is Yours, and also the night; You established the moon and the sun. | 16Yours is the day, Yours also is the night; You have prepared the light and the sun. |

| 22Rise up, O God; defend Your cause! Remember how the fool mocks You all day long. | 22Arise, O God, and plead Your own cause; Remember how the foolish man reproaches You all day long. |
| 23Do not disregard the clamor of Your adversaries, the uproar of Your enemies that ascends continually. | 23Do not forget the voice of Your adversaries, The uproar of those who rise against You which ascends continually. |
