| 1Jesus said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks will come, but woe to the one through whom they come! | 1One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! |
| 2It would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. | 2 It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin. |
| 3Watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. | 3 So watch yourselves! “If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. |
| 4Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to say, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.” | 4 Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.” |

| 8Instead, won’t he tell him, ‘Prepare my meal and dress yourself to serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink’? | 8 No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’ |
| 9Does he thank the servant because he did what he was told? | 9 And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. |

| 11While Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. | 11As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. |
| 12As He entered one of the villages, He was met by ten lepers. They stood at a distance | 12As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, |

| 16He fell facedown at Jesus’ feet in thanksgiving to Him—and he was a Samaritan. | 16He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. |
| 17“Were not all ten cleansed?” Jesus asked. “Where then are the other nine? | 17Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? |

| 20When asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God will not come with observable signs. | 20One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. |
| 21Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst.” | 21 You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you. ” |
| 22Then He said to the disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. | 22Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see the day when the Son of Man returns, but you won’t see it. |
| 23People will tell you, ‘Look, there He is!’ or ‘Look, here He is!’ Do not go out or chase after them. | 23 People will tell you, ‘Look, there is the Son of Man,’ or ‘Here he is,’ but don’t go out and follow them. |
| 24For just as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will be the Son of Man in His day. | 24 For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so it will be on the day when the Son of Man comes. |
| 25But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. | 25 But first the Son of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected by this generation. |

| 27People were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. | 27 In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all. |
| 28It was the same in the days of Lot: People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. | 28 “And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building— |
| 29But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. | 29 until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. |
| 30It will be just like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed. | 30 Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed. |
| 31On that day, let no one on the housetop come down to retrieve his possessions. Likewise, let no one in the field return for anything he has left behind. | 31 On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. |

| 37“Where, Lord?” they asked. Jesus answered, “Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.” | 37“Where will this happen, Lord?” the disciples asked. Jesus replied, “Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.” |
