| 3When the foolish took their lamps, they didn’t take oil with them; | 3The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take along any extra oil. |

| 6“In the middle of the night there was a shout: ‘Here’s the groom! Come out to meet him.’ | 6At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ |

| 10“When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut. | 10But while they were on their way to buy it, the bridegroom arrived. | 11Later the rest of the virgins also came and said, ‘Master, master, open up for us! ’ | 11Later the other virgins arrived and said, ‘Lord, lord, open the door for us!’ |
| 12“He replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you! ’ | 12But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’ |
| 13“Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour. | 13Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. |
| 14“For it is just like a man about to go on a journey. He called his own servants and entrusted his possessions to them. | 14For it is just like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted them with his possessions. |
| 15To one he gave five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent, depending on each one’s ability. Then he went on a journey. | 20The man who had received five talents approached, presented five more talents, and said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have gained five more.’ |
| 21“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy.’ | 21His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ |
| 22“The man with two talents also approached. He said, ‘Master, you gave me two talents. See, I’ve earned two more talents.’ | 22The servant who had received the two talents also came and said, ‘Master, you entrusted me with two talents. See, I have gained two more.’ |
| 23“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ |
| 24“The man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a harsh man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed. | 24Finally, the servant who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Master, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. |
| 25So I was afraid and went off and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’ | 25So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what belongs to you.’ |
| 26“His master replied to him, ‘You evil, lazy servant! If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered, | 26‘You wicked, lazy servant!’ replied his master. ‘You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed. |
| 27then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and I would have received my money back with interest when I returned. | 27Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received it back with interest. |
| 28“ ‘So take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. | 28Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. |
| 29For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. | 29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. |
| 30And throw this good-for-nothing servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ | 30And throw that worthless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ |
| 31“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. | 31When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His glorious throne. |

| 37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? | 37Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? |
| 38When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you? | 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? |

| 45“Then he will answer them, ‘I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ | 45Then the King will answer, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’ |
