So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, in this manner stand firm in the Lord, dear friends.1So then, my brothers and sisters, dear friends whom I long to see, my joy and crown, stand in the Lord in this way, my dear friends!
I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to agree in the Lord.2I appeal to Euodia and to Syntyche to agree in the Lord.
Yes, I also ask you, true partner, to help these women who have contended for the gospel at my side, along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers whose names are in the book of life.3Yes, I say also to you, true companion, help them. They have struggled together in the gospel ministry along with me and Clement and my other coworkers, whose names are in the book of life.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!4Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice!
Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.5Let everyone see your gentleness. The Lord is near!
Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.6Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.7And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable--if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy--dwell on these things.8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.
Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.9And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you.
I rejoiced in the Lord greatly because once again you renewed your care for me. You were, in fact, concerned about me but lacked the opportunity to show it.10I have great joy in the Lord because now at last you have again expressed your concern for me. (Now I know you were concerned before but had no opportunity to do anything.)
I don't say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself.11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in any circumstance.
I know both how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content--whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need.12I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing.
I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.13I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me.
Still, you did well by partnering with me in my hardship.14Nevertheless, you did well to share with me in my trouble.
And you Philippians know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone.15And as you Philippians know, at the beginning of my gospel ministry, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in this matter of giving and receiving except you alone.
For even in Thessalonica you sent gifts for my need several times.16For even in Thessalonica on more than one occasion you sent something for my need.
Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit that is increasing to your account.17I do not say this because I am seeking a gift. Rather, I seek the credit that abounds to your account.
But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you provided--a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.18For I have received everything, and I have plenty. I have all I need because I received from Epaphroditus what you sent--a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, very pleasing to God.
And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.19And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.20May glory be given to God our Father forever and ever. Amen.
Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you greetings.21Give greetings to all the saints in Christ Jesus. The brothers with me here send greetings.
All the saints send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household.22All the saints greet you, especially those who belong to Caesar's household.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.23The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
