I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.1A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever; To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.
For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”2For I have said, "Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness."
You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant:3"I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant,
‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah4I will establish your seed forever And build up your throne to all generations." Selah.
Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!5The heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD,6For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the LORD,
a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?7A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him?
O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you?8O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them.9You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.
You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.10You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.11The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all it contains, You have founded them.
The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.12The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.
You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, high your right hand.13You have a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.14Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You.
Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face,15How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O LORD, they walk in the light of Your countenance.
who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted.16In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.17For You are the glory of their strength, And by Your favor our horn is exalted.
For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.18For our shield belongs to the LORD, And our king to the Holy One of Israel.
Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: “I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.19Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said, "I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.
I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him,20"I have found David My servant; With My holy oil I have anointed him,
so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him.21With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him.
The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him.22"The enemy will not deceive him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.23"But I shall crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.
My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.24"My faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, And in My name his horn will be exalted.
I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.25"I shall also set his hand on the sea And his right hand on the rivers.
He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’26"He will cry to Me, 'You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.'
And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.27"I also shall make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.
My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him.28"My lovingkindness I will keep for him forever, And My covenant shall be confirmed to him.
I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.29"So I will establish his descendants forever And his throne as the days of heaven.
If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules,30"If his sons forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments,
if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments,31If they violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments,
then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes,32Then I will punish their transgression with the rod And their iniquity with stripes.
but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness.33"But I will not break off My lovingkindness from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.34"My covenant I will not violate, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.
Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.35"Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David.
His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me.36"His descendants shall endure forever And his throne as the sun before Me.
Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah37"It shall be established forever like the moon, And the witness in the sky is faithful." Selah.
But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed.38But You have cast off and rejected, You have been full of wrath against Your anointed.
You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust.39You have spurned the covenant of Your servant; You have profaned his crown in the dust.
You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins.40You have broken down all his walls; You have brought his strongholds to ruin.
All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.41All who pass along the way plunder him; He has become a reproach to his neighbors.
You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.42You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries; You have made all his enemies rejoice.
You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle.43You also turn back the edge of his sword And have not made him stand in battle.
You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground.44You have made his splendor to cease And cast his throne to the ground.
You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah45You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah.
How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?46How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath burn like fire?
Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man!47Remember what my span of life is; For what vanity You have created all the sons of men!
What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah48What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.
Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David?49Where are Your former lovingkindnesses, O Lord, Which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?
Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations,50Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants; How I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many peoples,
with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed.51With which Your enemies have reproached, O LORD, With which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed.
Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.52Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
