Psalm 102
NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD! And let my cry for help come to You.1Hear my prayer, O LORD; let my cry come to you!
Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress; Incline Your ear to me; In the day when I call answer me quickly.2Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!
For my days have been consumed in smoke, And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.3For my days pass away like smoke, and my bones burn like a furnace.
My heart has been smitten like grass and has withered away, Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.4My heart is struck down like grass and has withered; I forget to eat my bread.
Because of the loudness of my groaning My bones cling to my flesh.5Because of my loud groaning my bones cling to my flesh.
I resemble a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the waste places.6I am like a desert owl of the wilderness, like an owl of the waste places;
I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.7I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.
My enemies have reproached me all day long; Those who deride me have used my name as a curse.8All the day my enemies taunt me; those who deride me use my name for a curse.
For I have eaten ashes like bread And mingled my drink with weeping9For I eat ashes like bread and mingle tears with my drink,
Because of Your indignation and Your wrath, For You have lifted me up and cast me away.10because of your indignation and anger; for you have taken me up and thrown me down.
My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass.11My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass.
But You, O LORD, abide forever, And Your name to all generations.12But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations.
You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come.13You will arise and have pity on Zion; it is the time to favor her; the appointed time has come.
Surely Your servants find pleasure in her stones And feel pity for her dust.14For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust.
So the nations will fear the name of the LORD And all the kings of the earth Your glory.15Nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth will fear your glory.
For the LORD has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.16For the LORD builds up Zion; he appears in his glory;
He has regarded the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.17he regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer.
This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.18Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD:
For He looked down from His holy height; From heaven the LORD gazed upon the earth,19that he looked down from his holy height; from heaven the LORD looked at the earth,
To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To set free those who were doomed to death,20to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die,
That men may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion And His praise in Jerusalem,21that they may declare in Zion the name of the LORD, and in Jerusalem his praise,
When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.22when peoples gather together, and kingdoms, to worship the LORD.
He has weakened my strength in the way; He has shortened my days.23He has broken my strength in midcourse; he has shortened my days.
I say, "O my God, do not take me away in the midst of my days, Your years are throughout all generations.24“O my God,” I say, “take me not away in the midst of my days— you whose years endure throughout all generations!”
"Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.25Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
"Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.26They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,
"But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.27but you are the same, and your years have no end.
"The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You."28The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be established before you.
