| 1It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife! | 1It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and the kind of sexual immorality that is not even tolerated among the Gentiles--a man is sleeping with his father's wife. |
| 2And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. | 2And you are arrogant! Shouldn't you be filled with grief and remove from your congregation the one who did this? |
| 3For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. | 3Even though I am absent in the body, I am present in spirit. | 11But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. | 11But actually, I wrote you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister and is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person. |
| 12For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? | 12For what business is it of mine to judge outsiders? Don't you judge those who are inside? |
| 13But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.” | 13God judges outsiders. Remove the evil person from among you. |
