Get rid of the old yeast The phrase "get rid of" in the Greek is "ἐκκαθαίρω" (ekkathairō), which means to cleanse thoroughly or purge. In the context of 1 Corinthians, Paul is addressing the Corinthian church's need to remove sin and immorality from their midst.
