“He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation shall not enter the assembly of the LORD.1A man with crushed or severed genitals may not enter the assembly of the LORD.
“One of illegitimate birth shall not enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD.2A person of illegitimate birth may not enter the assembly of the LORD; to the tenth generation no one related to him may do so.
“An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD forever,3An Ammonite or Moabite may not enter the assembly of the LORD; to the tenth generation none of their descendants shall ever do so,
because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.4for they did not meet you with food and water on the way as you came from Egypt, and furthermore, they hired Balaam son of Beor of Pethor in Aram Naharaim to curse you.
Nevertheless the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.5But the LORD your God refused to listen to Balaam and changed the curse to a blessing, for the LORD your God loves you.
You shall not seek their peace nor their prosperity all your days forever.6You must not seek peace and prosperity for them through all the ages to come.
“You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land.7You must not hate an Edomite, for he is your relative; you must not hate an Egyptian, for you lived as a foreigner in his land.
The children of the third generation born to them may enter the assembly of the LORD.8Children of the third generation born to them may enter the assembly of the LORD.
“When the army goes out against your enemies, then keep yourself from every wicked thing.9When you go out as an army against your enemies, guard yourselves against anything impure.
If there is any man among you who becomes unclean by some occurrence in the night, then he shall go outside the camp; he shall not come inside the camp.10If there is someone among you who is impure because of some nocturnal emission, he must leave the camp; he may not reenter it immediately.
But it shall be, when evening comes, that he shall wash with water; and when the sun sets, he may come into the camp.11When evening arrives he must wash himself with water and then at sunset he may reenter the camp.
“Also you shall have a place outside the camp, where you may go out;12You are to have a place outside the camp to serve as a latrine.
and you shall have an implement among your equipment, and when you sit down outside, you shall dig with it and turn and cover your refuse.13You must have a spade among your other equipment and when you relieve yourself outside you must dig a hole with the spade and then turn and cover your excrement.
For the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.14For the LORD your God walks about in the middle of your camp to deliver you and defeat your enemies for you. Therefore your camp should be holy, so that he does not see anything indecent among you and turn away from you.
“You shall not give back to his master the slave who has escaped from his master to you.15You must not return an escaped slave to his master when he has run away to you.
He may dwell with you in your midst, in the place which he chooses within one of your gates, where it seems best to him; you shall not oppress him.16Indeed, he may live among you in any place he chooses, in whichever of your villages he prefers; you must not oppress him.
“There shall be no ritual harlot of the daughters of Israel, or a perverted one of the sons of Israel.17There must never be a sacred prostitute among the young women of Israel nor a sacred male prostitute among the young men of Israel.
You shall not bring the wages of a harlot or the price of a dog to the house of the LORD your God for any vowed offering, for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.18You must never bring the pay of a female prostitute or the wage of a male prostitute into the temple of the LORD your God in fulfillment of any vow, for both of these are abhorrent to the LORD your God.
“You shall not charge interest to your brother—interest on money or food or anything that is lent out at interest.19You must not charge interest on a loan to your fellow Israelite, whether on money, food, or anything else that has been loaned with interest.
To a foreigner you may charge interest, but to your brother you shall not charge interest, that the LORD your God may bless you in all to which you set your hand in the land which you are entering to possess.20You may lend with interest to a foreigner, but not to your fellow Israelite; if you keep this command the LORD your God will bless you in all you undertake in the land you are about to enter to possess.
“When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not delay to pay it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin to you.21When you make a vow to the LORD your God you must not delay in fulfilling it, for otherwise he will surely hold you accountable as a sinner.
But if you abstain from vowing, it shall not be sin to you.22If you refrain from making a vow, it will not be sinful.
That which has gone from your lips you shall keep and perform, for you voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth.23Whatever you vow, you must be careful to do what you have promised, such as what you have vowed to the LORD your God as a freewill offering.
“When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes at your pleasure, but you shall not put any in your container.24When you enter the vineyard of your neighbor you may eat as many grapes as you please, but you must not take away any in a container.
When you come into your neighbor’s standing grain, you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you shall not use a sickle on your neighbor’s standing grain.25When you go into the ripe grain fields of your neighbor you may pluck off the kernels with your hand, but you must not use a sickle on your neighbor's ripe grain.
