Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,1Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,
who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.2who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God's house.
For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.3For he has come to deserve greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves greater honor than the house itself!
For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.4For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward,5Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that would be spoken.
but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.6But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. We are of his house, if in fact we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope we take pride in.
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice,7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks!
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,8"Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness.
Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.9"There your fathers tested me and tried me, and they saw my works for forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’10"Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said, 'Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.'
So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”11"As I swore in my anger, 'They will never enter my rest!'"
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;12See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes the living God.
but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.13But exhort one another each day, as long as it is called "Today," that none of you may become hardened by sin's deception.
For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,14For we have become partners with Christ, if in fact we hold our initial confidence firm until the end.
while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”15As it says, "Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?16For which ones heard and rebelled? Was it not all who came out of Egypt under Moses' leadership?
Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?17And against whom was God provoked for forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?
And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?18And to whom did he swear they would never enter into his rest, except those who were disobedient?
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.19So we see that they could not enter because of unbelief.
