Hebrews 3
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,1Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.2who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house.
For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.3For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.
For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.4(For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward,5Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,
but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.6but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice,7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,8do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,
Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.9where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’10Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.’
So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”11As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest.’”
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;12Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,14For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”15As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?16For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?
Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?17And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?18And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.19So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
