Colossians 3
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.1Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.2Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.3For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.4And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.5So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,6Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.
in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.7You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.8But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.
Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,9Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.
and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,10Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.11In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;12Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.13Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.14Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.15And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.16Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.17And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Instructions for Christian Households
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.19Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.20Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.21Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.
Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord.
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,23Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.24Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.25But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites.
