This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings, he made them to be like himself.1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”2Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who was just like him—in his very image. He named his son Seth.3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
After the birth of Seth, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters.4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.5And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.6And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:
After the birth of Enosh, Seth lived another 807 years, and he had other sons and daughters.7And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters:
Seth lived 912 years, and then he died.8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.
When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.9And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:
After the birth of Kenan, Enosh lived another 815 years, and he had other sons and daughters.10And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:
Enosh lived 905 years, and then he died.11And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.
When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.12And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:
After the birth of Mahalalel, Kenan lived another 840 years, and he had other sons and daughters.13And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:
Kenan lived 910 years, and then he died.14And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.
When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.15And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:
After the birth of Jared, Mahalalel lived another 830 years, and he had other sons and daughters.16And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:
Mahalalel lived 895 years, and then he died.17And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.
When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.18And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:
After the birth of Enoch, Jared lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters.19And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
Jared lived 962 years, and then he died.20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.21And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters.22And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
Enoch lived 365 years,23And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.24And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.25And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:
After the birth of Lamech, Methuselah lived another 782 years, and he had other sons and daughters.26And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son.28And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
Lamech named his son Noah, for he said, “May he bring us relief from our work and the painful labor of farming this ground that the LORD has cursed.”29And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
After the birth of Noah, Lamech lived another 595 years, and he had other sons and daughters.30And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:
Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died.31And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.
After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.32And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
