1This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings, he made them to be like himself.1This is the historical record of Adam's generations. When God created mankind, he made them in his own likeness.
2He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”2Creating them male and female, he blessed them and called them humans when he created them.
3When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who was just like him—in his very image. He named his son Seth.3After Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son just like him, that is, according to his own likeness, and named him Seth.
4After the birth of Seth, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters.4Adam lived another 800 years, fathering other sons and daughters after he had fathered Seth.
5Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.5Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then died.
6When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.6When Seth had lived 105 years, he fathered Enosh.
7After the birth of Enosh, Seth lived another 807 years, and he had other sons and daughters.7After he fathered Enosh, Seth lived 807 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

22After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters.22After he fathered Methuselah, Enoch communed with God for 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters.
23Enoch lived 365 years,23Enoch lived a total of 365 years,
24walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.24communing with God—and then he was there no longer, because God had taken him.
25When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.25When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech.
26After the birth of Lamech, Methuselah lived another 782 years, and he had other sons and daughters.26After he fathered Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years, fathering other sons and daughters.
27Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died.27Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then died.
28When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son.28When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son,
29Lamech named his son Noah, for he said, “May he bring us relief from our work and the painful labor of farming this ground that the LORD has cursed.”29whom he named Noah, because he said, "May this one comfort us from our work, from pain that is caused by our manual labor, and from the ground that the LORD has cursed."
30After the birth of Noah, Lamech lived another 595 years, and he had other sons and daughters.30After he fathered Noah, Lamech lived 595 years, fathering other sons and daughters.
31Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died.31Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then died.
32After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.32After Noah had lived 500 years, he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
