1This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings, he made them to be like himself.1This is the record of the family line of Adam. When God created humankind, he made them in the likeness of God.
2He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”2He created them male and female; when they were created, he blessed them and named them "humankind."
3When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who was just like him—in his very image. He named his son Seth.3When Adam had lived 130 years he fathered a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and he named him Seth.
4After the birth of Seth, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters.4The length of time Adam lived after he became the father of Seth was 800 years; during this time he had other sons and daughters.
5Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.5The entire lifetime of Adam was 930 years, and then he died.
6When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.6When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh.
7After the birth of Enosh, Seth lived another 807 years, and he had other sons and daughters.7Seth lived 807 years after he became the father of Enosh, and he had other sons and daughters.
8Seth lived 912 years, and then he died.8The entire lifetime of Seth was 912 years, and then he died.
9When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.9When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan.

13After the birth of Mahalalel, Kenan lived another 840 years, and he had other sons and daughters.13Kenan lived 840 years after he became the father of Mahalalel, and he had other sons and daughters.

18When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.18When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.

20Jared lived 962 years, and then he died.20The entire lifetime of Jared was 962 years, and then he died.
21When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.21When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah.
22After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters.22After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God for 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters.
23Enoch lived 365 years,23The entire lifetime of Enoch was 365 years.
24walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.24Enoch walked with God, and then he disappeared because God took him away.
25When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.25When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.
26After the birth of Lamech, Methuselah lived another 782 years, and he had other sons and daughters.26Methuselah lived 782 years after he became the father of Lamech, and he had other sons and daughters.
27Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died.27The entire lifetime of Methuselah was 969 years, and then he died.
28When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son.28When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son.
29Lamech named his son Noah, for he said, “May he bring us relief from our work and the painful labor of farming this ground that the LORD has cursed.”29He named him Noah, saying, "This one will bring us comfort from our labor and from the painful toil of our hands because of the ground that the LORD has cursed."
30After the birth of Noah, Lamech lived another 595 years, and he had other sons and daughters.30Lamech lived 595 years after he became the father of Noah, and he had other sons and daughters.
31Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died.31The entire lifetime of Lamech was 777 years, and then he died.
32After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.32After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
